Privacy Policy

Learn how we collect, use and protect your information when you visit Kodecit.

Website: kodecit.uk Last updated: 22 August 2026

This policy explains what personal data this website may collect and how it is handled.

01Who we are

Our website address is https://kodecit.uk.

02Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you use it. You can read the Gravatar service privacy policy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible to the public alongside your comment.

03Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download images from the website and extract their location data.

04Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so you do not need to enter these details again when leaving another comment. These cookies last for one year.

If you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is removed when you close your browser.

When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen-display choices. Login cookies last for two days and screen-options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login remains active for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. It contains no personal data, only identifies the post ID of the article you edited, and expires after one day.

05Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images or articles. Embedded content from another website behaves in the same way as if you visited that website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, add third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content. This may include tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

06Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

07How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website, if any, we store the personal information supplied in their user profiles. Users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

08What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including data you provided. You may also request that we erase personal data we hold about you.

This does not include data we must retain for administrative, legal or security purposes.

09Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
